Katherine Nuñez is a painter and a fabric artist based in Manila, Philippines. Her textile works employ embroidery, beadwork, and natural dyeing done with the intention to connect the simple acts of everyday living with her creative practice. Her material experiments with fabric, especially with dyeing, has led her to create work that combines the art studio, kitchen, and garden. Thus, her artistic inquiries often touch on concepts of symbiosis and relationality. She was a resident of Gasworks, London (2024), and a recipient of the British Council’s Connections Through Culture Grant (2025). A notable highlight in her artistic practice is her participation in the 57th Venice Biennale Viva Arte Viva in 2017. Recently, she has incorporated painting in her body of works as a way to record her studio-garden experiments. Here, she also tries to play with the many ways a painting can be approached as an object of craft.
