Artist Statement:
The work explores the intersection of spectrality and digital media through a holographic video installation that makes the invisible visible. Drawing on Derrida’s hauntology and Gordon’s concept of social haunting, the work considers spectres as traces of unresolved histories. One example of overlooked and erased history in the Philippine context is the biased Folkmar and Bilibid prisoner catalogs from the American colonial period, which were written from the colonizer’s perspective. Through holographic displays and aural architecture the installation creates an immersive, floating, and transparent ghostly figure. The project examines how holograms can embody inarticulated histories and provide a space for memory and reimagined visibility.
